Arlington Independent School District continues its focus on targeted workforce development with another successful year of the Practicum Program. A partnership with the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce, 189 AISD seniors worked internships at 77 local businesses and organizations.
The Practicum Program allows high school seniors to gain hands-on experience by interning for three hours a day, two days a week during the school year, preparing students for future careers with real-world application. With 400 applications each year, 200 students are selected to participate across various career pathways, including hospitality and tourism, health sciences, business and finance, manufacturing and more.
Students undergo a thorough vetting process, including confirmation of transportation, academic review for prerequisite coursework, submission of a resume and completion of both digital and in-person interviews.
The Greater Arlington Chamber is committed to developing a strong business community and economy by investing in the future workforce of the greater Arlington area. To date, the Chamber has helped place 3,192 students in internships, and more than 6,000 workforce certifications have been earned through the Practicum Program.
