The American Dream Scholarship Program is so incredibly honored to have awarded five very deserving students, two graduating seniors from the Arlington ISD’s Arlington Collegiate High School and three college students who are currently attending the University of Texas at Arlington, with scholarships totaling $21,000. This program launched for the first time this year and is a partnership between the Greater Arlington Chamber and the META Foundation. Our goal was to lift up the Latino/Hispanic community by empowering and supporting the working student to continue their education.
Through the American Dream Scholarship Program, we were able to develop a strategy that not only supported our community’s graduating seniors but existing college students as well. The American Dream Scholarship Program received applications from some of Arlington’s best and brightest, first-generation college students of Latino/Hispanic descent. Each of our applicants expressed a great interest in beginning or continuing their education at Tarrant County College or The University of Texas at Arlington.
“We are excited to see our vision come to life, and see the impact we are making one student at a time,” said Victoria Coronado, President of the META Foundation, “As I participated in the scholarship evaluation process, it was even more eye-opening and emotional than I had anticipated, and truly rewarding. It has been our dream to create a scholarship program that supports our Foundation’s passion by providing our community’s working students with the support they need to achieve the American Dream.”
We had the fantastic opportunity to surprise two of our recipients with impromptu recognition ceremonies. We brought together a few of our scholarship committee members, board members, school counselors, teachers and family members to honor them in-person with a check presentation to tell them the great news. Click here watch us surprise one of our recipients!
