Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a holiday of remembrance and celebration of his impactful life. This year, we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on January 16, 2023. Arlington will have celebrations all weekend leading up to MLK Jr. Day with community events to continue the Dream that Martin Luther King Jr. had.

The 2023 theme is Advancing the Dream: Moving Toward Unity, Justice and Peace. Organized in 1989 and established as a nonprofit in 1990, the MLK Celebration Committee works in partnership with the City of Arlington to plan the city’s long-running MLK celebrations. During its 35 years of service, the MLK Celebration Committee has given scholarships to graduating students, donated countless hours of time, and shared enthusiasm and resources with the community while continuing to push forward the message and dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
